Severe weather in the western-part of Germany

The severe weather caused by the low pressure system BERND has caused extremely large damage in large parts of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and those affected. Our recognition and thanks go to all emergency forces and volunteer helpers on the ground.

Weather Consulting for racing pigeon flights

Knowledge of the weather is crucial for success in pigeon racing. Since spring 2019, Wettermanufaktur has been advising the Association of German Pigeon Breeders and their flight controllers on decisions to allow racing pigeon flights.

René de Vries is the new Managing Director of Wettermanufaktur GmbH. Since 1 March 2020, he has been in charge of the internationally active start-up based in Berlin and is responsible for the operative business.

Award ceremony - Harry Otten, Chris Brunt, Malcolm Kitchen and Leo Kroon

The Harry Otten Prize for Innovation in Meteorology has been awarded for the fourth time. During the Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society currently taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, the jury announced that Malcolm Kitchen from the UK Met Office and Chris Brunt from the University of Exeter, have won the first prize of 25’000 Euro.
